Thanksgiving Point Farm

The kids were excited to go to Thanksgiving Point and see the farm animals.

The baby animals were really cute!

A worker came around and gave the animals hay. Some of the hay dropped on the ground and the kids picked it up to give to the animals.

The pony rides were a favorite!

Summer Trip: Albuquerque

Our trip to Albuquerque was by far the easiest drive (and longest) and the most exhausting experience overall.

Family came in from all over to see us. Audrey and Henry got to play with cousins that they hadn't seen in over a year and a half.

It was almost entirely non-stop.

We also got to see good friends (though not as many as we wanted to).

We were so busy that we didn't even take pictures, except on one occasion. We went to the Botanical Garden. We took about 300 pictures.

The Children's Fantasy Garden was cool. Everything was just the right size for the kids, though they were a little put off by the giant (fake) insects.

 Audrey was pretending to be a baby bird in an egg.

 The model railroad was very cool. I especially liked the miniature houses and people.

I had never been to the Butterfly Pavilion before. The few times I had been to the gardens, the pavilion had been closed for a variety of reasons.

It was, by far, the best part of the day for me.

The kids weren't as enchanted as I was, but they will certainly remember it for a long time.

After the pavilion, we met up with Grandfather.

We tried to make it to the farm gardens and the Asian gardens, but we got lost in the desert garden and didn't have enough time after we found our way out.

H's Swimming Class

After Audrey finished her swim class, we signed Henry up for one too. He was too young to go to class alone, so we got him into a parent/child class. Ben was more than happy to go with him.

Henry was much more shy about the water than Audrey was. I think that Ben going was the best choice, though, because Henry was much more relaxed with his dad than he would have been with me.

Success!!

We went to Seven Peaks recently and found that Hank's swim classes may have been too effective. While the wave pool was calm, Henry kept walking deeper and deeper into the water until we would go and bring him back into the shallows. Moments later, he would be bobbing his way back to the deep end, a huge grin on his face!

Dressing Myself

Henry has reached a point in his life where he has realized he has little control over his environment. He has discovered that the one thing he does have complete control over is what clothes he is wearing. We have been driven nearly crazy by our son stripping off his clothes and putting on something completely different. Sometimes, multiple times a day.

We found him like this.

Okay, so he put his pajamas on.

Look again. 

How in the world did he get them on backward? AND zip them up?

If you look back at the first picture, you can see that he managed to twist the legs around on the pajamas so he could put the feet on right.

Far too pleased with himself, in my opinion.

I can't help but love him anyway.
